Peter Cornelius was a contempoary of Wagner and Liszt and was greatly influenced by their music. Today he is best remembered for his carol The Three Kings, the third of the (originally six) Christmas Songs, which has been omitted from this set. The clarinet obbligatos to these four songs were added in 1979 by Geoffrey Emerson. These four Christmas songs provide you with a contrast of moods, with both the words and music written by Peter Cornelius. Two copies of the Voice and Clarinet part (one for the vocalist and one for the clarinettist) are also included.
