Prokofiev's Op.65 presents twelve easy pieces for the intermediate Piano student, with all of the playful and unpredictable characteristics of the great Russian composer's style. An excellent resource for concert performances, early recitals and festivals, the pieces cover a wide variety of moods and flavours, with a wealth of unusual melodic or technical challenges. Furthermore, the clarity and simplicity of the writing offers a candid glance at Prkofiev's compoisitonal approach, which in turn will inform the student's understanding and appreciation of his larger or more complex works.

Musicroom Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating An excellent book for the beginner pianist by one of the most important composers of the 20th century. The pieces are beautiful (much better for example than Schumann's music for the Young) and an excellent introduction to the best of 20th century piano music. The only downside is the outdated feel of the paper and quality of the printing and the absence of comprehensive fingerings. I would definitely recommend it!
