Musicroom Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating A lovely book, full of charming pieces suited to young beginners. There are differing moods and techniques to be mastered, including breathing control. All my pupils have enjoyed playing from this book, and various audiences have also enjoyed listening to their perfrmances. This is a good book for curing people of "yuk recorder" syndrome!

Customer Rating Brian Bonsor has put together a delightful selection of pieces which range from beginner (G-D') to grade 2 difficulty. Most of them are his own compositions (the rest are his own arrangements), which are written for recorder players by a recorder player and teacher who really knows what works. Even the easiest pieces make the beginner feel that they are really making music, and the more complex pieces are enjoyable exam and concert repertoire. I regularly use this book with my own pupils, and it has had the 'thumbs-up' from every one of them. It is worth noting that the piano accompaniments are suitable for those of modest keyboard skills, yet add a very effective dimension to the pieces.
