Frank Zappa's classic 1969 album faithfully transcribed in full guitar tablature. Includes an introduction from Simpsons creator Matt Groening:
"With its angular melodies, quick change rhythms, and eccentric arrangements, Hot Rats basically invented that peculiar musical genre known as fusion."

Rating Review
Customer Rating If you are new to Zappa this or any one of his releases could be seen as an entry point. King crimson have a compilation which is titled "The beginners guide to King Crimson". I would find it frustrating to do justice to Zappa in a single compilation. Zappa wore different musical hats seemingly intentionaly, from jazz, rock to symphonic and areas only best described as "Zappa". Hot Rats is potentialy a seminal album for it's time. "Peaches En Regalia" and "Son or Mr Green Genes" display Zappa's ability to compose busy yet accessible hum-along pieces. I cannot thing of many artists of the modern era who have made me laugh and think as much as Frank Zappa.

Customer Rating The first Zappa album I bought, and still probably my favourite. This music has depth and also a strong groove throughout. The tab is good, with transcriptions for many of the flute parts cropping up too. There is nothing too technically demanding here, but you have to be willing to have the patience to learn six-minute improvised guitar solos. Zappa also shoots around the fretboard quite a bit, so it is a good way to think about soloing outside of predictable pentatonic boxes and so on.
