Rating Review
Customer Rating I saw this show during its last week on the West End in September 2001. The show overall was not my favorite. It was good, but it was a little too much. It felt like Webber wrote a play, wrote an opera, couldn't figure out which one he liked better, so stuck them together. It was also extremely emotionally trying almost to a ridiculous point. Bad things kept happening on top of each other and, by the end, the audience is exhausted. On the flip side, Webber's music, of which I am not often fond, was excellent! It captured the essence of Ireland while maintaining that familiar hint of Webber's style that draws fans from all over the world. The instrumentation was unique and captivating and the use of on stage, a capella percussion was very engaging. I left the production not feeling too sure about how I felt, but after familiarising myself with the music and looking back in retrospect, I would definitely recommend this show to others. I think it is a shame that there are not plans to bring it to N.Y. It's about time we had a show in the States of such magnitude-especially in light of our recent tragedy. Thank you.

Customer Rating This is rubbish. The pieces are badly written - so are the lyrics. This is the worst work I have seen from Andrew Lloyd Webber. I definitely would not recommend it.

Customer Rating I went to see this show with an open mind, not being a football fan but liking Lloyd Webber. The football match was very well done but it was the power of the lyrics and the haunting music which amazed me. The show is a plea for peace, between individuals and between nations, and in these troubled times the songs should be better known. As Ben Elton put it, 'No child was ever born to hate'.
