Description

Ever since the release of The Koln Concert recording on ECM in 1975, there has been a huge demand for a transcription of the piece to be published. Until now Jarrett has refused, as the recording is of a totally improvised concert, but finally, much to the delight of pianists, students, musicologists and many others, he has created and published this authorised edition of the work.

Rating Review
Customer Rating This is an amazing transcription, allowing you to reproduce the music from one of the classic Jazz performances. Buy the CD first, then the transcription, and marvel at the creative talents of Keith Jarrett.

Customer Rating I love this book. The transcription is perfect, and you can actually sound like Keith Jarrett while playing! A foreword by Jarrett explains that not every aspect of the concert was written out, and at some points it was actually impossible to transcribe, but nevertheless it is almost perfect, note for note. On the other hand, it is an incredibly hard piece (at least for me - I am grade 7/8 standard) but it is still playable. The great thing about having an entire concert is that it won't get boring to play like other songs might: you could play it over and over again and never stop appreciation the beauty of Jarrett's improvisation. A definite recommendation for advanced pianists!
