Description

C. Paul Herfurth's classic series of tutor books have now been completely revised and updated with a host of innovations to suit a new generation of musicians.
A New Tune A Day features the same logical, gentle pace and keen attention to detail that made earlier editions so hugely popular and successful. Clear explanatory diagrams and photographs help guide you through the lessons and achieve the very best in tone, technique and posture. The selection of music is fresh and exciting, including duets and rounds to inspire the student and ensure that those vital practice hours are never boring!

The book includes:
  • Advice on your instrument and the equipment you will need
  • Instructions for effective technique and comfortable playing
  • Explanatory pages on reading and understanding music
  • Tests to check your own progress and comprehension

The accompanying audio CD features a virtuoso performance and backing track for each pieces, as well as recorded examples to support the lessons. Furthermore, an edition of this book is available for Saxophone (BM11363), creating an ideal opportunity for duets.

Rating Review
Customer Rating I'm an adult beginner and I'm finding this book immensely helpful as a first primer. It starts at the beginning with how to put your clarinet together and how to hold it and blow it. I found getting a note a real challenge at first.

My teacher has been going through the book with me and we've found it sets a good pace.

The CD is very useful. It's helped me to check my sight reading and it's great to be able to play along with it. I do find it tends to go at a slightly faster pace than I can manage sometimes.

The tunes are OK but not always the most fun. I've just got to where there is a frustratingly tiny snippet from Nessun Dorma! I've been using The Complet Clarinet Player Book 1 as a source of additional tunes.

I use it every day and it has been a huge help in getting me started.

Customer Rating Excellent starter book. I find the pace and detail of the lessons ideal and easy to follow.
I bought this as I already had the saxophone version.

Customer Rating I am a fairly advanced clarinet student (beyond book 2!)and have used many tutors. The two "Tune a Day" books in my mind are by far the best. They do not merely help students to play nice little tunes, but right from the start emphasize correct technique, theory, musicality and styles. This approach permeates the entire book - both books are a joy to own.
