Range of songs was not bad.
I returned this book as it is not what I expected or wanted. The book has no music scores so I did not have anything to indicate what the melody and timing should be. Also the instructions for playing the guitar were poor and in some cases not clear.

Musicroom Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating I think this book actually makes you a complete guitar player! You learn things like strumming styles, picking styles, hammerons, pulloffs etc. Perfect for beginners, but advanced players can also learn some new things with this book. It includes some nice, famous songs, though it only contains small parts of the songs and not the complete songs. I don't regret having bought it, though.

Customer Rating This book is very cheap in price, but excellent book for beginners. The teaching method is very good.

Customer Rating A good book aimed at the beginner but the learning curve is quite steep. First part (Book 1) is ok but parts 2 and 3 (Books 2 and 3) seems a big step up. CD helps hugely. Good quality materials.

Customer Rating My first guitar arrived thursday, book on saturday morning and by sunday tea time i knew 8 chords and could play the opening tune. The book is well presented with clear diagrams and instruction and the CD helps if you think you're not getting anywhere. Its suprising how quick you can progress. Overall a really good instruction manual and I'm sure can take any aspiring guitarist well beyond what they think they are capable of.

Customer Rating Great book for beginners as it also explains the strumming patterns while most books only give you the chords. The songs are a bit old. I have friends who don't know songs like "Catch the wind" and it's hard to learn an unknown song. The reason I give only 3 stars is for the CD. The guitar on the CD is very difficult to hear.

Customer Rating If you want to learn the guitar as an accompaniment instrument, this book is an excellent place to start. Simplified and easy to read music shows notes/chords and strumming patterns so you'll always know what you're doing with the left and right hands.
I'm returning to the guitar after a long break and this book is just what I need to get back up to speed and indeed improve.

Customer Rating Great Shop with fast delivery and great price. Working my way with this book. Read so many good reviews. Hoping this time I will learn to play the guitar. The books looks very good. Wish the rest of each song wasn't so far away from the initial page as it shows you a verse in each section.

Customer Rating It contains a wide variety of music types, and is clear and easy to understand.

Customer Rating This book and CD guide has something for everyone. The book takes you through the steps of learning guitar from the basic string positions and chords to new rhythms and styles. The CD helps you to understand how the songs featured in the book should sound when played correctly, but the backing track section can prove difficult for beginners. However, this book is a must for anyone wanting to learn guitar without paying for expensive tuition.

Customer Rating It's still early days for me, but it seems to be quite a complete book, learning songs from the very start - which I like. It makes practicing a lot more interesting.
I think this is one book that will definitely help me progress.

Customer Rating This was just what I needed. I am learning the guitar and really was looking for the song Why worry by Dire Straits. However the rest of the book is filled with good songs, easy to play and clear instructions on different styles, strumming patterns etc.I am really pleased with it.
New to guitar.

Customer Rating Excellent so far - still learning but very well laid out and easy to pick up - well done!

Customer Rating Good if you are a beginner interested in acoustic guitar - less so if you're more interested in classical.

Customer Rating Selection of goods excellent. Service and delivery excellent.

Customer Rating Excellent very well put together and easy to follow.

Customer Rating Well put together and easy to follow, the CD really helps. I will soon be playing my favorite tunes.

Customer Rating Bought this for my son as recommended by his teacher, and it seems very comprehensive.

Customer Rating I like the presentation. The chord fingering is clearly illustrated and there is a good selection of songs. I especially like the fact that some classical guitar is included.
