Sturminster Newton GB Teacher
Good range of well known tunes in various keys in first position before transferring to third position. Slide and 1st position to 3rd changes covered succinctly too. All in all recommended.
Considering number of pages a bit costly.

Musicroom Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating This book is excellent for taking pupils into third position. It encourages pupils to play well in tune by playing well known tunes by ear as well as from notation, and would be perfect for people who are teaching themselves as well as other pupils.

Customer Rating In my view this is the best book on the market for starting to learn new positions on the violin. The approach is sound, using well-known tunes as a starting point, and the presentation is attractive and clear.

The only negative is that the last two pieces are suddenly a lot more advanced, and involve a lot more changing between positions. Would have given 5 stars if there had been more easier pieces to get the hang of changing positions.
