Rating Review
Customer Rating I thought the music for the film Gladiator was excellent. When I saw this book was available I was so excited because I thoroughly enjoy being able to play the music of films myself.
I never know what to expect about a piano book. It can either be too easy, or too difficult, or not have enough of the tune you like.
But this one I found was perfect. It could not have been better because firstly it included every tune from the film, and they were titled with recognisable titles like 'Honour Him' and 'The Battle'. The piano parts were written so well, just right for me. I particularly liked the biggest battle because it had such a grand climax that you could elaborate on. And I thought Honour Him was written in a way that could be played with lots of feeling. You did not need to improvise because everything is there that is needed, and everything is included. Running through, is like running through the film by sound. It's such great fun and I have still not tired of it. Oh and the pictures included, and the design and cover were great because having the book is not like just having a piano book, its a real 'gladiator' piece of work.

Customer Rating The music for this film is fantastic, some of the best film music ever. It's effectiveness is built alot around the extensive percussion that runs through the piece, and this is essentially the downfall of this book, in that the music simply doesn't sound as good without the percussion. The arrangements are fairly accurate, but beware also you don't get that much sheet music for your money. A good novelty buy, but it simply doesn't even come close to the film music, and if you are expecting a close resemblance, I think you will be disappointed.
