Music Through Time is an exciting series of instrumental repertoire books designed to provide young musicians with enjoyable, interesting and stimulating material in the early stages of their playing career.
The contents of each volume are arranged chronologically, and each piece is accompanied by short notes which place the music in its wider historical context so that the student can more easily relate the style of the music to its period. Book 1 covers grades 1-2. The solo clarinet part is also included as a separate insert.

Rating Review
Customer Rating This, as the title suggest is an excellent assortment of pieces from various musical periods. I use it as additional repertoire to a tutor. The pieces are in chronological order rather than being technically graded so it is easy to give pupils free choice or to quickly scan and find a piece to supplement an aspect of learning. Each piece has a descriptive title and a short paragraph of interesting information pertaining to the piece and it's period. These stimulate interest and develope interpretation skills.
The pieces are on the whole well laid out, though I wish the printing of The Harmonious Blacksmith, a grade 2 option, was a little more spacious as it leaves little room for writing sufficient comments for examinations.

Customer Rating My son has started with this book and he really some of the pieces.
