Musicroom Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating An excellent edition, showing the hallmarks of scholarship. The music is easy to read, and is very clear. Thoroughly recommended
Hugh Mackay

Customer Rating Stainer's CRUCIFIXION has been performed by the choir of St Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne, Australia ever since the late 1890s till date. It is one of the most inspiring and moving pieces ever performed. A favourite with the congregation when they throng in numbers every Good Friday to hear the masterpiece of this composer.

Customer Rating Me? Rate Stainer's Crucifixtion? Not worthy.

Is the right copy to have if you are singing with a choir? - yes. It even summarises the very minor changes that have been made in the different issues made by Stainer. Although it does no mention the change of "land" to "earth"
Simon, Chorister

Customer Rating I have used Novello editions many years ago and I always purchase them. I am delighted with the Olivet to Calvery Score

Customer Rating Perfect. Clear and easy to follow. Good notes for info etc. You can't go wrong with this.

Customer Rating I have sung both Stainer's Crucifixion and Maunder's Olivet to Calvary, in the capacity of soloist or chorus member. Both Cantatas are very enjoyable to sing and are pleasant to listen to. The very famous God So Loved The World from the Crucifixion is very moving, as is the chorus, Fling Wide The Gates. It is a great pity it is not performed more regularly.

Customer Rating As always music arrived super fast and was in perfect condition owing to the very good packaging.

Very pleased and will keep on ordering my music from you on behalf of my choir. Thanks

Customer Rating As I expected it to be. Lovely and clear to read

Customer Rating Significantly easier to read than previous edition and yet retains the same page numbers so a mixture of old and new editions in the same choir is possible without causing grief for the conductor (they get enough of that already)

Customer Rating I think this is an excellent piece of music which is still fortunately being used in many churches, all in full or in parts.

Customer Rating This is a superb example of music of its period, and is within the skill level of SATB choirs, where most singers have some music reading ability. It requires tenor and bass soloists, with three additional soloists from the choir for minor parts. The accompaniment is reasonably straightforward, though it has some tricky passages, and it requires fluency in keys up to 5# and 5b.The edition is clear and well laid out, with some good editorial notes.
