Musicroom Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating As a choral piece Jephtha has some big tunes and tricky passages but the number of choral movements is quite low. It is therefore relatively easily learnt.

The score itself is old-fashioned with tails in unexpected places and dotted notes a long way from their dots which makes sight reading tricky.

Customer Rating Excellent. It arrived on time and in perfect condition.

Customer Rating No cavils with Handel's music, but this is one of Vincent Novello's editions which desperately needs a makeover. Very old-fashioned appearance on the printed page even to the extent of minims with descending stems on the right, not left, of the note and the usual bane of the old-style crotchet rests which are too easily confused with quaver ones. Dots are widely separated from their notes and too often gone altogether missing eg. in the bass part at the bottom of p47. The small print and the wear and tear the plates have sustained also contribute to making this a difficult score to read accurately.
