This book is an absolute joy! It is both informative and hugely entertaining. I particularly liked the biographical details of the various Music Hall performers and of the songs they made famous. Also, there are a lot of photographic illustrations and prints of music hall song sheets - really advertisements for the artist and the song in question. There are fifty songs, with musical notation and mostly - so far as I can tell - with the melodies for the verses as well as the chorus.
It is as much fun to read the lively text as it is to play and sing the songs, and the design and layout are most diverting! Congratulations to those I responsible for this engrossing book.
I can't really find much to dislike! One strange omission is the melody notation for the verse in :When I Take My Morning Promenade, which was a popular song of Marie Lloyd. Although a number of the other songs are unfamiliar to me, it does seem that they have the musical notation for both verse and chorus, so perhaps I'm being a bit mean and pedantic !Ruthin
