Rating Review
Customer Rating This is a good book if you are really keen on learning the theory side of music as well as the practical. It also helps to understand music when playing an instrument because you know where a certain sign/note/rest comes from. I recommend this to all keen players.
Laura

Customer Rating An excellent workbook to prepare for the Grade 2 Theory exam, or simply to learn the Grade 2 syllabus. Suitable for children 11+ and adults alike.

Customer Rating An excellent aid when trying to learn the basics of music theory. There are plently of useful excersizes and examples which can help you along the way.
Paired with the AB Guide to Music Theory, these chain of music theory books are really a godsend when trying to prepare for exams.

Customer Rating Great preparation for the exam, when supplemented with good teaching! Not really aimed at young children, who might find the exercises boring and the language a bit serious, but gets the point across.

Customer Rating Really clear exercises with examples.

Customer Rating This is a fantastic theory book for any musician whatever the age, Its arranged accordingly to difficulty in the book and covers a wide aspect of musical theory which can be related to many instruments other that Piano and Keyboard. Would certainly recommend this!!!

Customer Rating Although it will often be used for young pupils who are preparing for exam this is suitable for all ages. It is good value and the only book you need to pass Grade 2 Theory with a good teacher.

Customer Rating This is the best series for AB theory exam preparation. It sometimes requires additional explanations and can't really be done without a teacher or further study book.

Customer Rating As a 70-year-old plus who learned the violin at school (Grade V) but rarely played since, I recently resumed violin lessons with an excellent teacher who insisted I study the theory, too. Hence I have completed the Eric Taylor Music Theory in Practice Grade 1 with great satisfaction and am now working on Grade 2.
I would recommend this series to anyone, young or old, because of of the clarity and thoroughness of its presentation, the ampleness of examples given to be worked at and the 'user-friendliness' of its approach.
I have already bought and look forward to working through Grades 3, 4 and 5 and wonder why I never did this before.
Benedict

Customer Rating The workbooks Music Theory and Practice are excellent. Keeps one's mind very alert. As a senior citizen I love a challenge and find theory most interesting.

Customer Rating Excellent book, really helpful when learning and teaching grade 2 theory
Anon.

Customer Rating A really useful way to practice music theory. I recommend this especially if you are working on your own because the exercises help you learn the theory. BUT- you have to buy the answer booklet :( I think this should be included in the workbook and you may also need a theory book...

Customer Rating Great book - lots of practical exercises.

Customer Rating This book has lots of exercises to work through but extra explanation will be needed via a teacher or a text book.
Anon.

Customer Rating I've always found it difficult to know who / which age group the Grades 1 to 4 Theory books are aimed at ---- they are very wordy, so may suit the mature student teaching themselves.
MAIN COMPLAINT: too few exercises on Intervals & on Minor Key recognition.

Customer Rating Excellent series for all ages. This series takes children through the steps needed to pass their theory exams - of course they will also need good tuition as well, and to learn the facts. Theory classes have helped my children with their instrumental work (piano, violin, clarinet, flute, voice) and they are building up a good understanding which I think will help in other exams, such as a music GCSE.
