Description
The Windows was commissioned by Lincoln Cathedral to celebrate the unveiling of the restored Dean’s Eye Window. The text is by George Herbert (1593 – 1633), one time Canon of Lincoln. It was premièred on the 3 May 2006 by the Cathedral Choir under the direction of Aric Prentice.
The second soprano part is optional and, if used, should be sung by an ensemble of singers positioned some distance from the main choir, in a gallery, for example, or offstage in a concert hall environment.
