Description

This work was inspired by the painting 'Swing Landscape' by Stuart Davis. Davis had tried to convert the rhythms of jazz into a mural of vibrant colour. Schuller turned this process on its head when he wrote his 1966 composition "American Triptych." Inspired by the Davis painting, he came up with this jazzy sounding tone poem.
