Karel Husa (b. 1921) is an American composer who was born and raised in Czechoslovakia. His Concerto For Trumpet And Wind Orchestra (1973) was commissioned by two American National Band Fraternities, and premiered at their Biennial convention by the National Inter-Collegiate Band. It has been arranged here for Trumpet and Piano.

The Concerto consists of three movements: Intrada – Intermezzo – Fanfare, and demands the highest level of technical proficiency from the soloist. It uses a range of mutes, with influences from blues, jazz, and Berlioz, and calls for a range of some four and a half octaves.
