Henry Purcell was an English composer and although incorporating Italian and French stylistic elements into his compositions, Purcell's legacy was a uniquely English form of Baroque music. He is generally considered to be one of the greatest English composers; no other native-born English composer approached his fame until Edward Elgar, well into the 19th century.
Edited by Anthony Lewis and Nigel Fortune for SATB Voices (Verse and Chorus) for this Novello edition, O Give Thanks Unto The Lord is averse anthem composed to the words of Psalm 106 in 1693. A perfect addition of a Baroque piece to the choir repertoire!
