Description

The Opera 'Four Saints in Three Acts' was a collaboration between Virgil Thomson and poet-lyricist Gertrude Stein. It is plotless and semi-surreal, and has connections to Dada-ism. The song "Pigeons on the Grass Alas" is probably the best-known excerpt from the opera, and is mainly based on runs up and down the scale of D Major.
