John Tavener's mesmerising choral work The Lamb is based on a text by the poet, William Blake. The text has an underlying religious theme and marks God’s love for his creatures, however weak. The beauty and evocative language of the verse is mirrored by Tavener’s setting and together they form a pleasing and effective work. This is the Vocal score for unaccompanied SATB choir though a piano accompaniment is included for rehearsal purposes.

I like every bit of it. I use the score to follow along with a CD. That really works for me.

Musicroom Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating This is an exquisite piece, haunting and beautiful.

Customer Rating I heard this piece more than 20 years ago and never forgot it. This past Christmas eve I was listening to the King's College Lessons and Carols through NPR in the US and heard it again! What a thrill. It is one of the most simple, yet beautiful choral works I think I have ever come across in my life.

Customer Rating Difficult 1st verse being almost discordant but then resolves into the most scrumptious back bending 2nd verse

Customer Rating A real gem. Not the easiest piece to learn but definitely worth the effort. This is atmospheric, tender and devotional.

Customer Rating Beautiful choral work!

Customer Rating A good little piece. Best sung unaccompanied, but your singers need to be confident and in tune to pull this off. Not hard notes wise, but the difficulties come from putting the palindromic parts together - they overlap and are, at times, a tone apart making tuning difficult. But, the piece is worth the effort and time and is a fantastic quiet piece. My church choir sung this as a quiet piece in the middle of a noisy carol service - very effective.

Customer Rating Nice clear copies.

Customer Rating Sang this for the first time this Christmas. Not as difficult as it sounds. Really enjoyed it
