Ahmad Jamal is one of those rare musicians whose art influenced a widely varied group of jazz artists, from pianists such as Red Garland, Benny Green and Cedar Walton, to Miles Davis, who recorded Ahmad's compositions and repertoire. In his autobiography, Miles admired his 'concept of space, his lightness of touch, his understatement, and the way he phrase(s) notes and chords and passages.'
