Description

A special selection of the most poignant, expressive and moving themes and melodies, all arranged as sumptuous Piano solos. This anthology will bring a tear to your eye and a lump to your throat as you enjoy an absorbing and hugely rewarding selection.

The Thirty-one pieces here range from Barber's celebrated Adagio For Strings, through Elgar's spectacular Nimrod to popular favourites including Pie Jesu and the theme from television's Six Feet Under. You will recognise themes and movements as appearing in such films as Schindler's List, The Pianist, Death In Venice and Elizabeth. These memorable movements have been compiled from the album of the same name, and lovingly arranged for the solo Piano.

Customer Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating One of the best collections I've seen. Some great music, well arranged.

Customer Rating This book completely lives up to its name. It is made up of a great selection of pieces that range from Baroque(Handel etc) to Modern (Romeo & Juliet Balcony Scene); all of which are very moving and evoke emotion. The Intermediate marking is spot on - piano techniques are required, but there is definitely a good selection of pieces ranging from around grade 4 to grade 6 level.
I thoroughly enjoy playing from this collection and would most definitely recommend it to other pianists.

Customer Rating The book contains an excellent range of pieces, most being well known, which as a church organist I will find useful for funerals and memorial services. The pieces are well arranged and retain original harmonies. Although arranged for piano they easily adapt for organ or could be played exactly as written on keyboards only. A great addition to my collection.
