it is a bit of a struggle to open the top part of the stand - of course, it could be that we're just a bit dim!

Good quality stand. Easy to set up or pack up. For first time buyers don't be hesitant if the joints keep sliding down. just tighten the screws more, and make sure you re-tighten the adjustable screws each time you use it.
It's perfect for a cheap and easy to use stand. The book/page holder even spins around!
