The celebrated performer George Duke offers his comprehensive and wide-ranging knowledge of the Keyboards in this special double-DVD set. Famous for his recordings with artists as diverse and demanding as Frank Zappa, Cannonball Adderly and Quincey Jones, Duke presents two very different perspectives on Keyboard tuition.
Volume One concentrates on song construction, and offers advice on chord progressions, introductions, voice leading and phrasing. Duke discusses the knowledge required to accompany a voice effectively, including how to approach the pragmatics of live performance.
Volume Two sees Duke discussing his perspective on contemporary improvisation and Piano styles. The lesson includes left-hand comping, building solos from motifs and maintaining a compositional view of your improvisation.
All points are illustrated with musical examples, and the set is completed by some very special guest appearances from Robben Ford, Anita Baker, Al Jarreau and Miles Davis.
