Grieg wrote these well-loved piano pieces at intervals throughout his working life, and they show the range of his musical language and the influence of the Norwegian folk idioms that inspired him. Only a few of the pieces are technically demanding, and most are accessible to the competent pianist. The set of 66 Lyric Pieces should be in every pianist's collection.
