Description

Hyacinthe Klose was the favourite pupil of Frederic Berr at the Paris Conservatoire. It was his Clarinet School which made his name famous, and in 1869 he recieved the cross of a Knight of the Legion of Honour.
This edition is a free translation and adaptation of the original edition of the Methode Pour Clarinette from 1845. It has been re-arranged in a more progressive manner and technical developments of the last years have been taken into account.

Customer Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating Klosé's conservatoire method has the weight of tradition and history behind it, as well as the authority of one of the creators of the modern 'boehm system' clarinet. This is a thoroughly comprehensive method noteworthy for the number of duets included. A particularly interesting feature is the use of a clarinet accompaniment to simple slow scales - an imaginative way to sweeten the medicine! Required study for serious classical clarinetists.

This edition is probably the best currently available, but at the moment is rather poorly produced. The paper is little better than newsprint and the cover is flimsy, although the use of spiral binding does allow each page to lie flat. B&H would appear to be producing this in short runs to order, hence the high price. This method (and edition) deserves more popularity!
