Scales, arpeggios, chords and riffs provide the foundation for every musician's improvisation skills and are the basis for writing and performing your own music. Scales mean success and Rockschool want you to be the best you can be.

Guitar Technical Companion is your essential reference guide and covers all the scales, arpeggios, chords and riffs you will need to complete the technical side of Debut and Grades 1-8 in Guitar. Use with Rockschool Grade books to get the best results for you or your students.

Each Grade comes with a Fact File that covers fingering patterns and advice on how to approach the exercises, alternative fingerings and what the examiners are looking for.

Rockschool grades are accredited by Ofqual. When you take one of the Rockschool exams you will have a qualification and a measure of your achievement that is recognised around the world. It shows you can play your music when it really counts.

Rockschool - be the best you can be.

Customer Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating Well, this is useful but to be honest the individual Grade books should provide each scale written out, rather than having to work them out - we shouldn't have to pay again for this book. Also, even this book does NOT write out the rest oif the 'riff' exercises - we are still left to work them out, and they are NOT necessarily as simple as just repeating the same pattern on the next string. It could be better, and should all be included in the Grade books.

Customer Rating The book is a perfectly adequate companion not only to Rockschool but for general learning / teaching and progression in the early stages of learning the guitar. A useful tool to own.

Customer Rating The point of having a companion book is to provide extra exercises. There is a companion book for grades 1 - 8 (price £24.99) and well worth it as it has the sight reading and ear tests extra exercises that are needed. Ear tests are particularly needed for any student working on their own and are very handy and helpful for teachers. This book has none of them. The scales and riffs on a different pitch can and should be worked out. Disappointingly this book is of no real help and isn't worth buying, unlike the other companion book which is worth buying.

Customer Rating Spot on thanks!

Customer Rating It's worth it to have everything technical needed for the grades in one place. You can quickly recap previous grades and also start preparing for future ones.

Even if you are not studying for the grades it will give any guitarist a good framework from which to develop.
