Rating Review
Customer Rating This has a lot of very good features.
My biggest problem is with the scanning as I get weird results. I'm using a new Canon scanner and have tried the default settings and custom settings with the same odd results. I've also tried scanning in through Corel and reading the scanned images after checking they are perfect.
It would be better to have the manual as a book or a pdf, the browser loaded e-manual is tedious to use.
Overall it is good value for money if you look at what you get for the price.

Customer Rating I purchased this program so that I could arrange four-part vocal / instrumental music for keyboard. I have since used it to condense a vocal line & accompaniment for keyboard. It will also do much more than this.
My only previous experience with this type of program was an early version of Sibelius; I almost went back to pen & paper! Printmusic 2010 is fairly straightforward to use & I am very pleased with the results - the output is clearer than many published pieces.
The quick reference guide (PC / Mac)is well laid out -you can soon start arranging. It would help to have a printed list of keyboard shortcuts; the online help is better than many I have tried but it would be quicker to have a proper manual.
If you are interested in this software, Finale will let you download it free for a month - after a few days, I could see that it was right for me & purchased it from Musicroom. The reference code on the software was sufficient to authorise the downloaded version - no need to use the disc supplied.

Customer Rating I bought this as I had written some music years ago on Cubase on an old computer that I no longer have, and I wanted to print it out. I have Midi files of my compositions but not the software any more. Couldn't afford to buy Cubase or Sibelius so thought this product would do the job as it allows you to import Midi files.
Well I imported one of my compositions and there were a few problems. Firstly the instrument names are off the page - too far left. Secondly, the clefs only appear on the top system of each page! Pretty useless. I googled this and there is no way to fix it. The third problem is that some of the rhythms were displayed incorrectly and short rests were not being displayed at all. I could go on.
The main problem I have with this software is that it is not at all intuitive. Most simple things aren't done in a way you would expect, so it takes a very long time to learn how to do anything. I had to keep referring to the help section any time I wanted to do something! I realise a lot of that is just getting used to the product, but for example with Sibelius it is infinitely more straight-forward and user-friendly.
Just one more thing - I used the scanning feature as this was the other main reason I had for choosing this product. I wanted to scan in some piano music so I could arrange it for string quartet. Well all I can say is don't bother!! The notes don't even appear on the page and the ones that do are on different "layers" whatever that is... it would be quicker just to type the notes in from scratch.
If you want to write simple tunes and print them out then this software is probably fine. Otherwise, get Sibelius if you can afford it!
