Fingerstyle master Al Petteway shows you how to use a variety of tunings - standard, dropped D, open G and low C - to create beautiful arrangements of traditional Irish and Scottish instruments. You'll learn how to find a tune's melody, then flesh it out with embellishments such as bagpipe-like drone notes, moving bass lines, chord substitutions and the 'Scottish Snap.' Rhythm patterns, damping effects, harmonics, right hand rolls and other techniques help you turn ordinary tunes into elegant guitar pieces.
Al provides exercises for developing right and left hand speed dexterity, along with complete arrangements for five instruments.
