Description

Joseph Fiala (c1748 - 1816) was a famous Czech composer and performer of his day. Mozart spoke highly of him, and he held a succession of important musical posts at European courts. His Divertimento in D is a recent discovery, and is published here for the first time. Written for the 'Klappentrompete' (Keyed Trumpet), it dates from the same period as Haydn's Concerto in E flat for the same instrument, and represents a welcome (and technically less demanding) addition to the classical Trumpet repertory.

Rating Review
Customer Rating An amazing piece, two elegantly written, contrasting movements. The Wallace cadenza for me needs some slight adaptation for performance but this only adds to the personalization of the piece. The cadenza is by no means rubbish and much of it can be used. The piece is similar to the Haydn but played much less and I cannot see why. I performed this for my A level recital and loved it, still do, an awesome piece. I would willingly suggest this to any trumpet player. A diploma level piece that doesn't go above a top G#. That's in the cadenza as well if you don't want to play it, just edit it out! Buy it... all you trumpet players!

Customer Rating My son is studying this piece for the Trinity London Grade 7 Brass exam. It is quite long but does not involve the highest notes in some of the other pieces. It is a fantastic piece of baroque music which is readily accesible for both the musician and the listener.
