This work, the so-called Wanderer Fantasy is a full-scale sonata, with its four movements designed to flow from one to the next without pause. It is Schubert's most monumental composition for solo Piano and represents his most ambitious effort to produce a virtuosic piece and his closest approach to a tone poem.
