Review
I bought this book because I was impressed with the amount of songs in it, however the songs are only extracts, not the full versions. Buy only if you're a beginner trying to teach yourself the saxophone.

I highly recommend this book to anyone attempting to teach themselves the saxophone. Not only is it easy to follow and comprehensive, but it moves you along swiftly and encourages you every step of the way, which is really inspiring!

A great book full of pieces that are fun to play and listen to. Could be used as a stand-alone study guide, although I found it works best together with a book geared more towards technical skill, like the Rubank Method. Whenever I get tired or bored of the Rubank exercises, I go to this book. When I plateau out, I go back to the Rubank. My only complaint about this book is that it's so thick, it doesn't want to stay open on my music stand. For that reason, I wish I had bought the four individual books separately. For only a few cents more, they would have been easier to use. Because it includes 4 levels of study, it will take you from a never-ever (how to hold the saxophone, etc) all the way through improvisation and soloing. Highly recommended.

I have only been learning the sax for a couple of months and have found some of the practice material in other books a bit old fashioned. This book takes you straight into songs you know and love and gives you plenty of material to aspire to. Since receiving this book, I have not wanted to put my sax down.
