Anyone who remembers watching Noggin the Nog as a child in the 60's and 70's will remember the haunting music that went with it. The composer, Vernon Elliott, was an accomplished virtuoso bassoon player as well as a talented composer, and his music added an air of mystery to Oliver Postgate's brilliant stories. This suite of music from the series, arranged for bassoon and piano, can never quite bring back that atmosphere, but is still a lovely set of melodies which are good to play and would make a very welcome addition to the repertoire of a school ensemble.
