Description
A small selection of some of the ecstatic religious poetry written in 16th Century India by Mirabai. When she was 27, her husband was killed in a war, and when Mirabai refused to die on her husband's funeral pyre, as was the custom, she left her family compound. She started writing her poems to Krishna, the Dark One, and sang and danced them on the streets. They have been translated by Robert Bly and arranged for Soprano and Piano.
