Rating Review
Customer Rating Much better than Number 1. This proceeds at quite a good pace and by the end of the book, my daughter is beginning to sound quite accomplished. It has been reasonably easy for me to help her using this book and so I give it a big thumbs up for its easy explanations.

Customer Rating I really like the John Thompson Easiest Piano course for its child-friendly but no-nonsense approach to reading and theory and the tunes are all pleasant. However, I find some pupils hit a "brick wall" midway through this book. After going through book 1 adding one new note every few pages (keeping both thumbs on middle C) suddenly there is a change of right hand postition adding three new notes at once and a couple pages later the same with the left hand. I find I have to use lots of additional material to build confidence with all the new notes. Alternatively I use Chesters Easiest piano course book 2 instead (the tunes aren't as nice but the progess is more natural) and return to John Thomas for book 3 or 4.
Anon.

Customer Rating I find the John Thompson Piano Course ideal for teaching young beginners. The progress is quite steady, but it gives the students time to master each new concept and technique. The pieces are pleasant to listen to and the students generally enjoy playing them.
