Review
The main thing here is a 45-minute 1962-concert, and although with few surprises (we get several of popular songs that had been hits for Armstrong a few years previously), the playing is neither tired nor sloppy, as was sometimes the case during the mid-sixties. Pops must have played most of the songs here a thousand times (at least), but everything is delivered with gusto and credibility, and the fact that neither Joe Darensburg nor Danny Barcelona were particularly exciting means very little in the overall picture. However, the five live-recorded tunes from 1947-48 are more satisfying, musically, with fine contributions from Jack Teagarden and Dick Cary. All tunes have previously been released on Storyville.
