The Rockschool Grade books contain everything you need to know to prepare for, and successfully complete, a Grade examination. Six pieces are included in both sheet music (with tabs) and an accompanying CD. The Grade 2 exam comprises your choice of 3 of the pieces plus technical exercises, sight reading or improvisation, ear tests and general musicianship questions. Alternatively you may take a Performance Grade where you play 5 of the 6 pieces. The book is well laid out with clear instructions and examples. The pieces cover a range of music styles; Techno, Metal, Modern R&B, Blues, Funk and Guitar Pop I enjoyed learning to play them and the scales and arpeggios and felt that my practice had a purpose. If you are looking to benchmark your ability on the Bass this is a good way to do it, but it also a great learning resource for developing new skills and techniques.
