Description

Gerald Veasley is a player with creative power, energy and total command of the instrument. In Solo Bass Techniques he begins with a clear explanation of right hand techniques which includes the free stroke, hammer stroke, and slap style. Then he focuses on the left hand discussing minimal motion and includes permutation exercises to build dexterity and finger independence. Gerald then performs and analyzes The Watcher, which is filled with a wealth of challenging techniques and ideas that you'll find in the accompanying booklet. Next up are sections on sclae and arpeggio sequences and an inspiring modal playing demonstration.

Gerald Veasley plays, composes, produces, arranges, records and has toured world-wide with artists like Grover Washington Jr., John Blake and Joe Zawinal. He was voted bass playing Talent Deserving Wider Recognition in Downbeat Magazine Critic's poll every year since 1983. Gerald is also on the Advisory Board of Bass Player Magazine, a member of the jazz funk group REVERIE, lectures on history and electric bass an Stockton State College and Dartmouth College and is a recording artist with Heads Up Records of Lynnwood, WA.
