Dexter Gordon: Jazz At Highschool

This CD was recorded live by the Danish National Radio at a Jazz Clinic for music student at a high school in Sweden in 1967. Jazz At Highschool features a terrific band with a stunning array of musicians that includes:

Dexter Gordon – Tenor Saxophone

Kenny Drew – Piano

Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen – Bass

Al Heath – Drums

As this live concert demonstrates, the decade Dexter lived in Copebnhagen from mid 1960s to mid 1970s, probably comprise the strongest period of his career where his technique, power and maturity had reached their peak.

The rhythm section featured here, led by famous pianist Kenny Drew, were able to match Dexter’s musical prowess and help boost him to the impressive artistic plateau heard on this recording.
