Description

Ennio Morricone’s main theme for the soundtrack to the 1986 motion picture, The Mission, starring Robert De Niro and Jeremy Irons. Representing the humanity, spirituality and emotion of the story, the sublime Gabriel's Oboe is the most famous part of the haunting score. This breathtaking piece has been set here in an arrangement for Oboe and Piano, and also for solo piano.

It is said that Morricone actually created the theme by synchronising his writing with Jeremy Irons pretend movements camera!

Rating Review
Customer Rating This is an excellent arrangement for Oboe and Piano (or solo Piano). There is plenty of scope for expressive playing and will make a great concert piece for the intermediate Oboist.
Anon.

Customer Rating This piece is a gorgoues piece of music, perfect for any oboe player. Deep reaching parts along with a clear tone that cuts through the accompaniment. AWESOME.

Customer Rating We were a bit confused at first as we received what seemed to be a piano solo version and a single piano and oboe copy - so we were both fighting for the piano and oboe one. It appeared we would need two copies to be able simply to read the music as written. The oboist decided it was easiest for her to read the top line of the piano only copy so that the pianist could just read the notes.
It was only AFTER WE HAD PERFORMED the music that we realised that the oboe part was printed on the back of the piano only version! So in actual fact what you get is two versions, one with the melody incorporated into a piano solo part and the other an oboe part with separate piano accompaniment. Don't make the same mistake as us!

Customer Rating This is one of the best arrangements of this superb piece of music. It sounds great and is easy to read. I can highly recommend it.

Customer Rating A superb piece for oboe, in the best mode of pure cinematic Romance. Works very well on other instruments too, not least on cello (as Yo-Yo Ma has shown us).
