In 2005, Pete Doherty was the most controversial star in British music and he quickly became a tabloid favourite, courting both fame and notoriety. Known for being a cultural and style icon as much as for his music, his relationship with Kate Moss meant he was never far from the front of the news.

Having co-fronted the Libertines and then having exploded onto the live scene and into the musical press, the first Babyshambles long-player was long awaited and much anticipated.
