Rating Review
Customer Rating This book introduces one new concept at a time in a logical order. It also starts with simple pieces for two hands, so that the right hand is never stronger than the left.
Anon.

Customer Rating The Joy Of First Year Piano is an excellent initial piano repertoire and study book. It is crammed full of interesting pieces which cover all aspects of initial piano study; and a very shallow grading allows for students of varying abilities to progress entirely within this book.
Its only drawbacks are that it has absolutely no graphics to engage the younger student and that it takes many students rather more than their first year to complete!

Customer Rating A really top book!

Ignore the written stuff in the first 10 pages or so and you have a book you can use for beginners repertoire as well as a teaching book. I use it to supplement and back up other books.

Yes it can take longer than a year to complete, yes it has no pictures for younger learners, but...

...sometimes, those nice colour graphics in some books actually detract from the learning that needs to take place - sometimes white space is good!

I think this is a great book, to be throughly recommended, with the widest range of music from around the world that beginners could reasonably be expected to play.
