Description

Phil Woods' Sonata For Alto Sax And Piano is an exciting piece, and is different, not because it incorporates jazz into a concert piece, but because it requires performers to take a creative as well as re-creative attitude in its preparation and performance, as improvisation is involved. This is an enjoyable challenge for the accomplished alto saxophonist. The solo alto sax part is also included on a separate insert.

Customer Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating it is a very good piece of music for sax players learning how to use the altissimo register harmonics and improvising around harmonics. The first movment involves a great amount of feeling and a contrasted section which also has quite a lot of feeling but in a way that it sounds different to the other section. There is a couple of fiddly bits. and some simple bits. but overall a very challenging peice to learn but great to be able to play well. listen to it many times and you will find it fairly easy to get your way through. but definately worth giving a go! (there are some difficult and easy improvisational bits in it as well) :D
