Rating Review
Customer Rating This is an excellent introductory book for the complete beginner and, although aimed primarily at young children, older students eager to learn the rudiments of piano playing will also benefit from looking at this book Unlike some other books for beginners, which in some cases proceed too rapidly, the pace of instruction is slow. Indeed, all the pieces are in middle C position and by the end of the book a student will have learned nine notes and played over forty little pieces. These include 'Mary had a little Lamb' and 'London Bridge is Falling Down.' Moreover, there are several imaginative theory exercises designed to catch a child's attention, and the book's final strength is the fact that it contains lovely life-like black and white illustrations that can be coloured in for extra creativity. As a piano teacher, I find that the majority of my young pupils prefer realistic illustrations to the monsters and gremlins etc that appear in more recent publications.
