Customer Rating As a student of music in West Virginia, I decided to play Brahms' "First Sonata for Clarinet and Piano" as my solo for this year. When I first started practicing it, I realized that though some of the melodies were challenging, especially in the second movement, but after working at them, I soon picked up on them. Though the altissimo notes don't go higher than F, some of the lower notes and rhythms are more challenging as a result. The third movement, in my opinion, is very beautiful. It has mainly lower notes, but they blend together in a very lovely way.

In all, I highly recommend this piece for students, but not necessarily for professionals.

Customer Rating By far one of my Favourite, brahms is an exceptional composer of clarinet music and love this one along which the sonata in E Flat, really enjoyable to play, some good technical bits to get your teeth into and sound brilliant when complete....Good addition to a diploma recital!

Customer Rating I struggled with Brahms other sonate but got to like it so much (especially the second movement) that I bought this one too! Sounds great and I expect it to be like the other - it will grow on you but is initially difficult to learn.
