    Customer Rating This is a great addition to the Grade 3 Book (they really should be packaged together).

    The CD opens full trio performances of 3 of the tunes on the syllabus (expert performances ... designed to show you how the songs could sound as you develope beyond Grade 3 level).

    Then each tune on the syllabus is played as a solo piano piece, complete with a piano solo, just to demonstrate the approach you could take for your own solos. This is my main motivation to buying the CD ... I really needed those examples.

    The next section offers 3 backing tracks with extended solo sections. This is an invaluable addition to the CD. I have played Birks Works so many times now and each time I feel myself getting gradually better. Very motivating ... !!

    Finally, there are a number of tracks demonstrating how the remaining part of the Grade 3 exam will be conducted. E.g. "Play this little phrase" ... "Improvise a reply to this simple phrase" ... "Hum these few notes" ... That kinda thing!

    All in all, this is a very useful study tool which really helps those tunes come to life.
