Description
Mendelssohn composed the incidental music to Shakespeare's play in two parts. The overture was completed when he was just 17, showing no less mastery and finish of form than the remaining numbers composed 15 years later. This enchanting score is witty, brilliant in texture and instrumental color and elegantly proportioned. This edition reproduces Mendelssohn's transcription of the orchestral suite for piano four hands, a long time favourite among duet players. Reprinted from the authoritative C.F.Peters edition.
