Customer Rating Don't waste any more time trying to lift those tricky grooves off your record collection, just get them from this book! There are some really nice bits of bass in here - make your band mates think you really can play something decent after all. Excellent stuff at a very good price, and notation and tab makes it easier to get. I just wish it made me sound like Josquin des Pres ALL the time.

Customer Rating The problem with this book is the total lack of context - the grooves are presented as a numbered list, with no explanations or annotations anywhere except for an uninformative half page introduction at the beginning.

Some of the patterns do sound pretty good, but they exist in a vacuum and as such aren't all that useful. It would have been great to have even just one sentence for each groove saying who inspired it, but as it is I don't recommend that you buy this. Maybe it's worth picking up if you want to practise sight-reading syncopated rhythms, but it isn't worth £10.
