Customer Rating This book is fantastic - Dr John just playing and talking about his music.
The book has good transcriptions of what he plays, giving a good idea of how he gets his sound.
this book is full of vibrant, exciting and varied New Orleans piano, a must for any piano player.
Certainly not and introduction to New Orleans Piano however, as i recommend only for Grade 6 pianists. really.

Customer Rating Advanced pianists - don't be deceived by "Book 1"! Initially I assumed that this book was for beginners, but it assumes at least an intermediate (G6) standard of playing. It doesn't teach you how to play the piano, it teaches you how to play New Orleans piano. It's an interview with Dr John (the CD) which has been transcribed into short, to-the-point lessons (the book). If you can already play and want to learn something completely new, try this!
